Promoting social inclusion, supporting the vulnerable, and championing human rights
“Exclusion jeopardises a person’s dignity, security, and opportunities for a better life, so all Inspired projects aim to foster inclusion and create a sense of belonging. In doing so, we uplift not just the individual but our entire community,”
Mrs Mahboubeh Ghaffarizad, Trustee and Founder of Inspired.

Sham-e Jamei
Thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund for making the Sham-e-Jamei project possible. This vital grant allowed us to deliver 20 weeks of inclusive social gatherings that have had a meaningful and lasting impact on some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

Sham-e-Jamei became more than just a gathering—it offered emotional support, friendship, and practical help to those from disadvantaged backgrounds, refugees and their families, elderly individuals, and people living with trauma or mental health struggles. These weekly events helped service users feel valued and heard, while giving younger members of the community the chance to connect with others who understand the experience of balancing dual cultures.
The success of Sham-e-Jamei was driven by the involvement of our community. Volunteers with lived experience of refugee journeys, local residents, and participants all played a part—whether through helping with organisation, leading cultural activities, or sharing their skills and traditions. We are so grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund for supporting this work, which has strengthened our community, improved well-being, and left a lasting legacy of connection and support.
We Wear Heritage
A BIG THANK YOU to Brent Council and the
National Lottery Heritage Fund for awarding Inspired with the We Wear Heritage fund!
This was a huge success and a great opportunity, not only for our volunteers to showcase their design and tailoring talents, but also for us to present an incredible side to Persian culture, through the medium of clothing.
Many of our community members and volunteers, who were once themselves refugees in the UK and have not visited their homeland for many years, felt like they were transported back to their homes through wearing these incredible outfits.
Our younger generation of community members got to experience the wonders of their heritage through a new and interesting medium of clothing.
Just look at these shots!
Inspired is a registered charity that engages with individuals facing exclusion. We believe that community participation is a fundamental right that enhances the health and equity of everyone.
Our projects ensure that no one in our community faces exclusion based on gender, disability, age, language, ethnic or racial origin.
What we do
We deliver a variety of programmes and events to foster inclusion and create a sense of belonging for everyone.
Alongside this, we provide individual support to those facing exclusion-based hardship, including refugees, the elderly and those with disabilities.
For individuals
We champion human rights together with other women's and human rights organisations. Our collaborative efforts aim to heighten awareness about human rights, counter violent religious extremism, and reaffirm the fundamental principle that all people are born free and equal.
